Good thing I am going to PT tonight as I have NO idea what is going on with these legs, especially the left one. I was limping all day yesterday. I did go to the pool last night and did some walking up and down as well as various leg exercises. I gave my arms a break because my shoulder hurt so much from Monday. Afterwards I walked home and felt relatively okay, though still had a limp. Silly me got distracted and never got around to icing, but I didn't notice so I guess it wasn't bothering me that much. This morning I was okay for the most part at home, but once I started properly walking in the street taking normal steps, my left leg went wonky and I'm limping again. I can't tell if it's more of a labral tear type of thing or it's my psoas. Perhaps it's only my psoas and it is tight? I will see what S at PT can do tonight. Perhaps he has some suggestions for stretching.
At least I got some sleep last night, albeit with some aids, but still, only woke up once and went back to sleep relatively quickly. That's pretty good for me.
from diagnosis through surgery for FAI, labral tear, psoas release, as well as fibromyalgia and EDS (ehlers danlos / hypermobility syndrome) - and not lets forget the bad hands/wrists! Additional information regarding dealing with a peri-rectal abscess which then turned into a fistula. Currently I'm trying to sort out my neck and upper back as I have been diagnosed with stenosis, and herniated and bulging discs in my cervical spine.

The Daily Update
Ugh, I just typed a whole post and it somehow got deleted! How frustrating!
Well, the long and short of it is that I'm very sore and achy today, especially in the front of my hips. I feel that is mostly from bending down and picking Jack up yesterday. I don't normally squat that much. I also had a v. bad night with lack of sleep from an over-active memory and a little pain thrown in. I just couldn't seem to get comfortable no matter what I did.
I am still going to go to the pool after work and hopefully that will push me into the exhaustion state so I will be able to pass out for a good number of hours tonight. Fingers crossed!
To add to the fun, those of you who remember the root canal debacle in November, the pain is back. It's nerve pain, shooting in that same area. How can it be since I had a root canal? Good question. It started on Friday and hasn't let up since. Perhaps it just wants to distract me from the other pain?
I will have to see the dentist if it keeps up though because it's really, really uncomfortable.
I will be keeping myself distracted with more research about computers and businesses in the meantime though.

Long Weekend
I went swimming again yesterday. The pool by my parents is nice and warm and I definitely prefer that, and also even though 90% of the pool is filled with kids lessons, the one lane left for laps is always free for me! How nice. In the city it's much more difficult to get time in the pool. Afterwards my mother and I went to the food shop and I held up pretty well even though I hadn't iced. The rest of the afternoon was pretty laid back with going over some business items with my dad and then my mother and I made my Gran's mandlebread recipe. It was so easy, albeit messy, but came out soooooo good!
I was doing pretty well until I got up from the dinner table and tripped over the dishwasher door that had been left open (no names will be mentioned ;-) ) I think I was more scared as it was my right leg that whacked into it than anything. I eventually ended up icing my whole leg, bit by bit, as my hip started hurting by then.
Today I was a little achy from the weather but thankfully not too bad in the am. We took my little nephew to the LI Childrens Museum. He seemed to enjoy himself but it is a bit difficult to keep up with him - he's like a little energy filled tornado! I definitely carried him around more than I should have and am already starting to pay for it. Still, wouldn't have changed it for anything.
I don't have PT till Wednesday so will go to the pool after work tomorrow. I'm trying to get the strength up in my legs and also doing some arm exercises - might as well since I'm in there.

Swim
I went for a swim today and it was going well until I decided to try the breast stroke. I had already done my leg exercises and thrown in some arm exercises for good measure as well. I did the walking up and down the lane and at the every end decided, heck, what can half a lap do? The good news is that my right hip was ok for the task, however, after just a couple of strokes, my left hip, on the inside, near my groin, started screaming bloody murder. Not good. That was the end of that. I'm wondering if I do have a labral tear in there, as that is the location that was hurting. I know we have yet to do an MRI, but I am in no rush as there's nothing we can do about the left until my right is very strong.
I was definitely sore on the right side afterwards, and came home and iced for a little bit which helped. I then went to a friends house and had multiple children climbing on me, but I behaved and did not pick them up, well, not for any length of time at least. So right now my right knee and foot are hurting but (touch wood) the hip is ok. I am going to go again tomorrow for a swim and see how that goes. Since I missed PT on Wednesday and they're closed on Monday, I must make some sort of effort to keep the strength up.
On a different note, I am v. excited about getting a new scanner and getting to work, but am baffled as to whether I buy additional bits for my PC or just get an iMac. I'd originally wanted the Mac OS but funding just does not exist for that at the moment. There's + and - 's for both so if anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear it. So confusing and I'm so not up to date in this tech world! I have to keep doing my homework! Also trying to find anyone who might have Mac software for scanning and/or Photoshop. It's incredible how much software costs.

Sore, sore me
I was a very bad girl on Wednesday and missed PT. I was feeling like crap and the thought of having to go was making me feel worse. I much preferred to go home and curl up on my comfy couch, watching old classic movies like Houseboat. You've got to love Hollywood, a 24 year old Sophia Loren with a 54 year old Cary Grant! Nevertheless I always seem to get sucked into that film.
So that was me being good and taking it easy.
Yesterday my right hip was still in pain, and when I went out after work I was limping quite a bit because as well as my hip, my knee had decided to hurt again - constantly! It's such fun in my world. Didn't do too much walking last night, but more than I should have. I don't know why but I was stubborn and refused to get a cab home.
This morning the knee is still not happy and neither is my right foot. About 4 years ago I went to see a physiatrist about my foot. She never did x-rays or anything, just threw me into PT. That worked and it's been relatively good since. However, with some of the new exercises at PT for my hip, it's been flaring up again. Today it's quite bad. I have now put on lidocaine patches on my foot and my knee. I will keep that company in business for sure!
