Today I feel horrid. The weather is horrid. Today is the first day in a while that I am slightly gimpy with the right hip. I shouldn't really be complaining though. I didn't sleep last night, and I also realised that I had forgotten to take the Mobic on Saturday and Sunday. Oops. Friday night I was out, and didn't get to sleep till late, and same as Saturday. Why is it no matter how exhausted I am I just can't sleep? Drives me nuts.
I walked quite a bit on Saturday, trying to see how I would do. I thought I did pretty well for the amount of walking I did. I pushed myself at the pool yesterday. Have been trying to walk faster and also added arm exercises. My back and shoulders are so sore today. I don't mind being a bit sore, just wish my whole body didn't ache so much today. Sadly I don't think there is one part of me that doesn't hurt. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
I had totally forgotten I had an appointment with the rheumatologist today. Thankfully I looked in my calendar and saw it. I hope she doesn't get mad that I am still only taking one Mobic per day. I just don't see the reason to take two as one is destroying my stomach, and I've been taking two acid-reflux pills a day to try to help. I also hope she doesn't examine me physically, because if someone touched me right now I might have to kill them. Ok, maybe not kill - permanently maim perhaps?
I am going to the NYPL tonight for another function. A friend invited me to some readings that are to be done by Ethan Hawke and others. I'm not a huge EH fan, but he was decent in "The Coast of Utopia" last year. Should be good though I hope I'm feeling better before that. Perhaps I can get a nap squeezed in somehow.
My right hand/wrist is a mess - even with wearing this bloody splint every night. I am dreading the thought of surgery - I know I've probably said this before - but will put it off as long as possible. I'm so over the medical profession.
I sent an email to the PT people today to see if they a) did ever get the letter off, b) if the insurance co actually received it this time and c) if there was anything else they suggest doing in the pool. Hopefully I will hear back with some (touch wood) good news.
from diagnosis through surgery for FAI, labral tear, psoas release, as well as fibromyalgia and EDS (ehlers danlos / hypermobility syndrome) - and not lets forget the bad hands/wrists! Additional information regarding dealing with a peri-rectal abscess which then turned into a fistula. Currently I'm trying to sort out my neck and upper back as I have been diagnosed with stenosis, and herniated and bulging discs in my cervical spine.

Working out the kinks
So, PT last night. S was back and decided to see what I could get away with doing more of. The main things I believe he added were the balance board, and doing clam shells on the right with a 2lb weight. After I did that one though I started to hurt. I did my side and back leg lifts without any weights. I also did the chair stretch for the front of my leg/psoas area. A said that area was very tight. S worked on it and then moved me all around to try to find the source of the pain. He seems to feel that the muscle area in front is inflamed and that I should just pay attention to what I do and take it easy. That's what I've been doing! He did say to take the anti-inflammatories again which I will do for a bit. And to keep going to the pool, so will be doing that after work today. I did send him an email this morning to tell him how sore and painful my hips were and to compare with the notes from last Wednesday as I wasn't suffering from PT afterwards on Thursday. I was pretty gimpy this morning but that seems to have thankfully calmed down.
As for my hand, it's still killing me, going on about three weeks straight, so I caved and rang my hand surgeon's office today. You know you're famous when the person hears your name, says "I know you" and transfers you to make an appointment directly, and you get one for the next week - and you've not even spoken to anyone at the office in a v. long time! Usually with him you have to wait months! I guess after 4 hand surgeries and knowing my doctor for about 18 years should get me some special treatment. I wish it was something better though. So, next Wednesday we will see what Charlie has to say about my lovely hand!

17 weeks post op - and slightly freaking out
Well, it's been a rough weekend to say the least. Here I thought I was doing so well last week that I might have gone too far, too fast. I had been hoping to go to the pool this weekend and try out some exercises that my PT showed me, but alas, my hips had other ideas. I tried icing them but it did not do much. Yesterday my right hip was so bad that I actually used a lidocaine patch on it. I have not done that since before surgery, so you can see why it is so upsetting. I will go over all of this with my PT again, though last week he did say I couldn't damage anything that had been done surgically. Hopefully it is just that I over used it and pushed myself too far.
As for the left, whatever the injection did to help it seems to have stopped doing. I know I should contact Dr. Kelly and tell him, but at the same time I cannot imagine having surgery in the near future for this. My whole body cannot handle that again this soon, and I definitely feel my right hip would not be up to the pressure of supporting me for three months on crutches. So we have yet another catch 22.
To add to it, my lovely hands have been out of control pain-wise for the last week. Anytime they hurt for more than a day or so straight I start to worry.
The weather is not helping either for the moment.
Oh well, as my heroine says,
Tomorrow is another day.
